This is a 5-round compressed escalation league designed to build competitive reps and hobby momentum before the edition changes. LEAGUE STRUCTURE Dates: 4/20 - 5/4 Tier 1 — King of the Colosseum — 500 pts — 2 rounds — 1 week per round Dates: 5/4 - 5/18 Tier 2 — King of the Colosseum — 750 pts — 2 rounds — 1 week per round Dates: 5/18 - 5/31 Tier 3 — Chapter Approved Incursion — 1,000 pts — 1 round — 2 weeks per List building between each tier: With each tier you unlock 250 more points to use to add to your force. You get one free mulligan after your first game where you can rebuild your 500pt list from the ground up. After this, you are expected to build up your forces over time from your starting list. Chose wisely! Pairings for each round will be posted on Best Coast Pairings. You are responsible for contacting your opponent and scheduling your game within the round window. Store tables and terrain are available during open hours on a first-come, first-served basis. Submit your game result through Best Coast Pairings when your game is finished. FACTION & ARMY RULES You must register your faction on Best Coast Pairings at signup. You will play the same faction for the entire league. Submit your army list for each tier on BCP before the round begins. You may update your list between tiers as points increase, provided your list remains legal. No Legends units. All other standard Matched Play list-building rules apply as found in the Core Rules ("Muster Your Army"), available free at: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/downloads/warhammer-40000/ To verify your list is legal and current, use the Warhammer 40,000 App or New Recruit. TIERS 1 & 2 — KING OF THE COLOSSEUM (500 / 750 PTS) What is King of the Colosseum? An unofficial 500 point format developed by Play On Tabletop, designed for fast, tactical games on a compact battlefield. We will modify it up to 750pts. Learn more: https://playontabletop.com/king-of-the-colosseum/ Table Setup: All Tier 1 and Tier 2 games are played on a 36" x 36" board using the Colosseum terrain configuration. Use the Blue/Green or Grey terrain sets available at the store. Reference the layout diagram here: https://imgur.com/a/aMjwb1L Terrain Rules Colosseum Walls — Line-of-sight blocking and impassable. No model or unit may pass through a wall. Models may scale the walls, measuring distance up and over. Models may not be placed on top of walls. Units may enter the Colosseum through any of the four gaps in the walls, or by scaling them. Colosseum Ruins — Four ruins inside the Colosseum, four outside. All ruins block line of sight infinitely upward and provide cover per standard Warhammer 40,000 terrain rules. Mission Rules: Tiers 1 and 2 use a modified Chapter Approved 2025/26 ruleset. Tactical Missions are required. Starting the Game: Roll off to determine Attacker and Defender. The Defender chooses the Twist; the Attacker chooses the Mission. Available Missions: Terraform, Take and Hold, or Linchpin Available Twists: Ruinscape, Adapt or Die, Lords of War, or Point Blank The remainder of the game follows standard Chapter Approved rules for your Tactical Mission. List Building Requirements (Tiers 1 & 2) Must include at least one Character designated as your Warlord. No Epic Heroes. Must include at least two Infantry units that are not Characters. No units with Toughness 10 or higher. Maximum Toughness 9. Rule of One: Only one of each unit may be included, except Battleline and Dedicated Transport units, of which you may take two of the same. (Example: two Intercessor Squads are legal as they are Battleline; only one Aggressor Squad is permitted as they are not.) Enhancements are permitted. Tier 1 maximum: 500 points. Tier 2 maximum: 750 points. TIER 3 — CHAPTER APPROVED INCURSION (1,000 PTS) Tier 3 games use the standard Chapter Approved 2025/26 Mission Pack at Incursion size (1,000 pts). Follow the mission pack instructions for mission selection and setup. Twists and Challenger options may be used if both players agree, played as written in the mission deck instructions. SPORTSMANSHIP This league is designed to be welcoming to new and experienced players alike. Help your opponents when questions come up, play at a reasonable pace, and focus on having a good game. You're expected to know the rules well enough to research the answer and find it in the rule book or online. If it's a really hard edge case and you can't resolve it between yourselves, flip a coin or reach out in discord. You can request TO present for a match by reaching out to me.
