Class Fee $25 per student
This hands-on class is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of free motion quilting on a home sewing machine. Whether you’re new to free motion quilting or looking to gain confidence, this class will cover simple techniques to get you started. Each participant will receive two small quilt sandwiches to practice on, along with demonstrations of free motion quilting designs. There will be plenty of time for guided practice to help you build skill and comfort with this exciting quilting technique!
What to Bring:
-Sewing machine – Oiled and in good working order, with feed dogs lowered and quilting/free motion foot installed.
-Sewing machine accessories – Power cord, foot pedal, and bobbins. If you have your instruction manual, please bring it.
-Sewing machine needles – 90/14 or 80/12 sharp (May be labeled universal, quilting, or topstitching).
-Thread snipping scissors.
-At least two different colors of thread – Fun colors encouraged for practice!
-Notebook and pen – For taking notes on techniques and tips.
-Quilting gloves (Optional, but strongly recommended for better control and ease of movement.)
Important Notes:
Please arrive with your darning/free motion foot installed on your sewing machine and your feed dogs lowered so we can begin quilting right away.
If you are unfamiliar with how to adjust these settings on your machine, consult your instruction manual or ask for assistance before class.
Students are provided with fabric quilt sandwiches to practice in class.
