# Event Details - **Event Name**: Solar, Food and Water CoLaboratory - **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 03 Dec, 2025 at 11:00 am – Wed, 03 Dec, 2025 at 03:15 pm - **Event Description**: A participatory learning and collaboration event about novel Agri-Voltaic systems (crop-growing between solar panels).About this EventSustainable Hockerton and Hockerton Housing Project are currently piloting a community-owned agrivoltaic project which will generate solar energy as well as opportunities for growing soft fruits between the rows of solar panels. Agrivoltaic systems are increasingly being installed across Europe and elsewhere but they are still novel in the U.K.With your involvement, we are interested in exploring the potential for scaling up agrivoltaics and incorporating food growing as an additional yield between rows of existing solar panels, or when new solar projects are being designed. We foresee that such systems could also have beneficial effects on flood mitigation, or at least on management of water flow within fields.This is a first event to gather together various stakeholders and interested parties. We will hear from guest speaker Stephen Briggs, who is a farm consultant and expert on agrivoltaic systems, and we will share our own project plans for the Hockerton agrivoltaic system. We will then open up space for discussion, pooling of knowledge and expertise through some facilitated workshops on the theme.Whether the concept of agrivoltaics is completely new to you, or whether you have some understanding already, we would like to draw on your input to help shape what it could look like in the U.K.- both on a small (e.g. allotment) scale, or within a mega solar park.If you can't make the whole day or attend in person, it is possible to dip into sections of the day and we will be providing a zoom link to join in with the presentations.
