In this workshop we'll be sharing our experiences of making alcoholic drinks- country wines and liqueurs. A country wine means any home made wine made from fermenting fruits (other than grapes), vegetables or flowers. A liqueur involves steeping any combination of fruits, nuts, spices or flowers in alcohol (and usually some sugar). We will demonstrate methods, share recipes, and have some very modest samples to taste on the day, making sure you are still very much safe to drive home. Light snacks will also be provided during the workshop but please don't come on an empty stomach! We are likely to be based mostly in our preserving kitchen, but we may also harvest some fruit in the orchard. We may encounter wasps and bees so please let us know if you have any allergies. This workshop is part of our continuing seasonal abundance programme. Throughout this series we have been sharing skills on all things related to food growing, foraging and food processing and preserving. Thanks to a subsidy from Sustainable Hockerton, there is a 25% discount for anyone in NG25, but the workshop series is of course to anyone travelling from further away as well.Please wear clothes you don't mind potentially getting juice on them!
