The sessions are designed to provide inspiring activities to develop the children’s curiosity and help them to discover nature. 

You will explore and learn about this part of the Essex Coast and Estuary while rock pooling and beachcombing. You will discover facts about the superpowers and magic of the coastal wildlife we find.

You will learn about the ecosystems, the environment and sustainaility. You will take part in a 2 minute litter pick-up and get inspired to protect the Essex coastline and Thames Estuary. You will also find out about water safety and learn how to float!

About the organiser

The organiser, Lisa Brazier is Beach School Practitioner and runs Beach School Explorers.

Beach School Explorers inspires everyone to love the Ocean. Essex has one of the longest coastlines of any county in England - around 350 miles - and is one of Essex's most valued assets for its national and international importance for nature conservation. This makes beach school a valuable way to learn about how lucky we are to live here!

The organisation engages with beaches, estuaries, rivers and all inland water and species habitats to connect children to their local watery environments and the curriculum through concepts such as food chains, the water cycle, geology, animal and environmental conservation, and so on.

Beach School Explorers is informal and child-led, and includes lots of fun and interesting activities including rock pooling, scavenger hunts, beachcombing, games, mindfulness, beach and river cleans, crafts and activities, linking with the curriculum.
