These are dedicated beginners' youth races, specifically designed to welcome first-time CX riders. These novice-friendly races feature a skills coaching session beforehand and provide the perfect opportunity to try Cyclocross in a supportive environment as well as letting more experienced young riders have a go, with courses set to ensure everyone has fun. All you need is a bike with off-road tyres to take part - a mountain bike is perfect.


Format

The morning will feature a pre-race skills coaching session (included for non members). This will coincide with normal Saturday Go-ride coaching timings, followed by fun Cyclocross races for different age groups (see schedule below).


Is this event for my child?

While aimed at children who are new to competitive cycling, these “Come and Try” races are suitable for all youth riders. We would ask that more advanced older riders bear in mind that we want to show what excellent ambassadors they are for Cyclocross by being welcoming and accommodating to new, less experienced racers in this event.

9.30-10.45: Normal Sotonia Youth Saturday Cyclo-cross skills coaching session with a separate introduction group for newcomers
10:45-11:00 - Race Registration
11:10-11:20 - U8/U10 race
11:25-11.45 - U12/U14 race
11:50-12:10 - U16/Junior race
