Cruise to the Nab Tower!
Following an exceptional amount of interest in our ‘Return to the Nab Tower’ trip – originally scheduled for July 2018 – we have rescheduled the cruise for Sunday 18th August 2019! Our volunteer crew are looking forward to taking Shieldhall back out to the eastern reaches of the Solent, recreating part of the route she followed when in service with Southern Water back in the 1980s. The Nab Tower was a tower planned for anti-submarine protection in the Solent in World War I. It was sunk over the Nab rocks east of the Isle of Wight to replace a lightship after the war, and is a well-known landmark for sailors, marking the deep-water eastern entry into the Solent.
On your return pass the cruise ship Explorer of the Seas - always the chance to sound our whistle and play the ‘Shieldhall Organ’!
