Uncial script is a traditional style of calligraphy, written with a broad-edged pen, characterised by round majuscule letters.

Used by Latin and Greek scribes from the 4th to 8th centuries, it is known for its legibility and elegance, often appearing in early biblical manuscripts and illuminated texts.

Calligrapher Angela Reed will guide you through the basics of writing with a broad-edge calligraphy pen, before showing you how to form the 26 letters of the uncial alphabet.

The course is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.

All materials will be provided, including a starter kit to take home.

Classes will take place on consecutive Fridays, between 1pm and 3pm, at Ocean Road Centre in Ocean Road, South Shields.

The course dates are March 6, 13, 20 and 27.

The cost is £40.
