Makerspace Exploration

Dates: January 7, January 14, January 21, January 28, February 4, February 11, February 18, February 25, March 4, March 11.

Time: 1:30 - 3:30 PM

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills such as typing and using a mouse. Comfortable opening and using computer programs.

Summary: This course will spend time on various techniques and tools found in the Innovation Hub makerspace. Combining technology with making, participants will learn how to design for and use the laser cutter/engraver and 3d printers. They will learn to use the cricut machines, how to sublimate and even how to sew, and finally they will gain some wood working skills making pen on the lathe, a pen box, and get artistic with string art.

Info: This week we'll be learning about 2D design using Canva and creating our own custom stickers!

Info: This week we will learn basic sewing skills by creating a custom pillow.

Info: This week we will start learning about design for the laser cutter to create a custom project.

Info: This week we will learn about screen printing to create a custom tote bag.

Info: This week we will start learning about 3D modeling & printing by creating a custom keychain.

Info: This week we will continue learning about 3D modeling & printing by creating a 3D avatar or character.

Info: This week we will finish up learning about 3D modeling and printing by creating a useful object or toy.

Info: This week we will begin learning about woodworking by completing a woodworking string art project.

Info: This week we will finish learning about woodworking by creating custom lathe-turned pens and pen boxes.
