The leaders will take you on a 4 - 5 mile hike on the dikes at Pointe Mouillee. You could see White Pelicans, Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers and other waterfowl. Other birds sometimes sighted on these walks are Eagles, Northern Harriers and Merlins.Pointe Mouillee is a significant waterfowl habitat and one of the largest freshwater marsh restoration projects in North America, encompassing 7,483 acres of wetlands and open water. Adding to the magic of Pointe Mouillee is the fact that it lies within the Atlantic and Mississippi flyways bringing numerous migrating species of birds to rest and refuel.Meeting Location: We will meet in the Sigler Road parking lot for Pointe Mouillee State Game Area. The map to the parking lot is HERE.This address will get you close to the Sigler Road parking lot - 8456 Sigler Road, South Rockwood, MI 48179. The Sigler Road Parking Lot is on Sigler Road, just east of the intersection at US Turnpike Road (also called West Jefferson).
