ABOUT THE SHOW:
For the 2nd Concert in our Listening Session Series, we welcome cellist Carol Anne Bosco from Austin, TX and Washington DC. An accomplished singer, songwriter and arranger, Bosco's most recent solo album, 'Crocodile,' embraces her jazz and folk influences with a strong dose of classically-inspired string arrangements. This will be Ms. Bosco's first appearance on the LS stage; let's show her a warm island welcome!
This unique pairing of classically trained crossover cellists will showcase collaborative arrangements by both Jenuine Cello and Carol Anne Bosco. Expect original songwriting from both artists, plus hand-picked contemporary arrangements featuring soulful, jazz-inspired vocals and cellos in harmony.
More about our guest artist:
Based in Austin, TX and Washington, DC, Carol Anne’s career is built on performing, teaching, and songwriting.
Her songs are folk and jazz inspired, and arranged for a chameleon band that can be as small as a solo set, as big as a ten-piece band with rhythm section and string quartet arrangements. She writes with an emphasis on interesting melody lines, energetic grooves, and ranging solos
Collaboration is frequent in playing and arranging. Through the Tiny Desk series on NPR, Carol Anne has performed with alt-J, Billy Corgan, and Meg Myers. For the latter concert, she arranged parts for string quartet. Other artists Carol Anne has appeared with include Jenny Lewis at the Anthem, and Jump Little Children on the Oblivion tour. She has arranged string parts for the session work she does in studios and from her home studio, as well as for weddings and events.
Her training as a cellist includes performance degrees from Florida State University and the University of Maryland. She has performed with the Arlington Philharmonic, Tysons-McLean Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and has taken part in the Fontainebleau, Wintergreen, and Duxbury chamber music festivals.
