- **Event Description**: While Clapperleg and his Fomorians may have fled the Summer fury of the Free Peoples, the sun has begun its descent towards Winter, the lengthening shadows bringing with them the threat of renewed ferocity from the Fomor as Samhain approaches.

As the fear of slashing claw and biting venom lingers from their last clash with Clapperleg, the forces of Culhaven make ready to stand against a tide that threatens to wash them out to sea. The heroes of Culhaven have concocted an antidote to Clapperleg’s poison, but some have doubts about how long their supply will last, and they have yet to fashion a weapon that can pierce the great Fomorian’s shell.

With the Fomorians quiet for now, a new strand of story has found its way through the Mists, but whether these newly-arrived Nemedians are friends or foes - and what path their tale will take in these new lands - is not yet clear.

Rumours from the Otherland are as troubling as ever, with the Throne of Summer set to give way to a fractured and volatile Throne of Winter.

Othrick, the King in the North, has led a group of heroes to try to retake Holmsfjord, and plant a Henge Seed amongst the ‘Three Norns’, great stones that stand together in the old capital. This seed would allow the Stone Wardens to open paths between Holmsfjord and Culhaven, but the North is still a horror-filled land, and this endeavour is by no means certain. Thus, Culhaven anxiously awaits word of their return.

Finally, the Ard Rí Fintan, and his champion Turalach have also been abroad, travelling to the hall of Cruachan to speak with Medb, the ever-young Queen of Connacht. Whether their famously tactful diplomacy has poured oil on troubled waters, or onto a blaze that threatens to engulf them, will only become clear when - or if! - they return.

As the nights lengthen, and Summer’s heat fades, the strength and trust of the Free Peoples will soon be tested. Who will stand against the foes that threaten the very bonds that hold the Free Peoples together?

 

What To Expect:

As is traditional with Dumnonni’s Samhain events, the darker evenings and themes mean there is likely be some night-fighting. Keep an eye out for the “beer shield” on the front gates, which will signal an end to combat so you can enjoy your campfires and carousing!

Although obvious threats like Clapperleg (and other enemies) are vying to K*ll the heroes of Culhaven, the return of characters from diplomatic missions (e.g. to Medb’s halls, or to the North) mean that there will be more of an opportunity than usual for political intrigue, which might involve sharp tongues as much as sharp blades..

Samhain is also the feast and celebration of the Celtic new year, so time will be set aside on the Saturday night for feasting and foolishness. More details of this will be forthcoming in the run up to the event - see the Facebook page and the Discord for updates.
