Snapshot Day is an annual water quality monitoring event held each May. Volunteers fan out across the Truckee River Watershed to collect samples from creeks, streams, and lakes—including Lake Tahoe—to capture a real-time snapshot of water quality.

Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome. Join us in South Lake Tahoe as we test for dissolved oxygen, pH, nutrients, and more. No experience needed.

Get involved:
• Join an existing team
• Create a team with friends or family
• Sign up as a Team Lead

Interested in being a Team Lead?
Team Leads guide their group and help ensure accurate data collection. All Team Leads are required to attend one in-person training:
• Friday, May 1 | 9:30–11:30am
• Wednesday, May 6 | 5–7pm

📍 Meeting Locations:
• South Shore: Meet at Lake Tahoe Community College, then we’ll fan out to sampling sites
• North Shore: Interested in sampling North Lake Tahoe or the Truckee River? Check back soon for registration links to join a site near you.

What to bring:
Sturdy shoes, long pants, layers, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), and a reusable water bottle

We provide:
All sampling and safety materials, training, snacks, lunch, and giveaways

Register in advance to reserve your spot. A confirmation will be sent from no-reply@galaxydigital.com, with final event details shared a few days before.

• Volunteers under 18 must complete a waiver with a guardian
• Volunteers under 13 require a guardian email to register

If you do not pre-register, you’ll need to complete a waiver onsite at check-in.
