- **Event Description**: In conjunction with the new Ken Burns' documentary "The American Revolution" come join us to explore the American Revolution from the often-overlooked perspective of women, revealing how they experienced, influenced, and responded to the political and military upheaval of war. Through their personal stories, letters, and historical records, we will see how women shaped the revolutionary struggle in both tangible and intangible ways.  And by centering our discussion on women's voices—both loyalist and patriot—we’ll gain a deeper, more nuanced understanding of their contributions to the birth of the nation.
Jonathan Beagle is Professor of History and Associate Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts.  Specializing in early American history, he is a recipient of the University’s Excellence in Teaching award and author of Boston: A Visual History (Imagine, 2013), as well as “Remembering Peter Faneuil: Yankees, Huguenots, and Ethnicity in Boston, 1743-1900” New England Quarterly Sept. 2002.
