The evening opens with Scott Joplin’s Overture to “Treemonisha”, a vibrant and rarely heard orchestral gem from the King of Ragtime. George Gershwin’s "An American in Paris" follows, brimming with jazz-infused energy and the thrill of discovery. "Song of Hope" by Florence Price offers a poignant and soaring expression of perseverance, while Margaret Bonds’ powerful work “The Ballad of the Brown King” brings the program to a stirring and triumphant close.
