Suitable for ages 12+ to adultAbout this EventThis relaxed 3-hour weekend class will give you a great introduction to fused glass and will be a lovely way to chill out and have some creative time (and some prosecco and scones). Bring your mum or a friend and make a social afternoon of it! Or you could make a unique present for Mother’s day which will last a lot longer than a bouquet of flowers!Guided by professional glass artist and tutor, Annette Daly, you will learn skills such as how to cut glass how to choose the best type of glass or accessory for different effects on your piece. This could be a medium-sized scene such as a floral scene or seascape or you may wish to choose a different theme or make an abstract piece or perhaps several smaller pieces or a set of coasters for example, it is very flexible. You will be able to use a wide range of top-quality Bullseye glass and accessory glass, some of which is unique to Annette Daly Glass to make your piece.Your piece will look beautiful framed or hung in a sunny or well-lit spot or it can be curved to be free-standing or you could purchase a beautiful oak stand at the class for your piece (available to view at the class.)This course is suitable for both beginners and those with fusing experience. The recom-mended age for this workshop is 12+ to adult. Refreshments including prosecco (and a non-alcoholic alternative for non-drinkers and u18s), hot drinks and scones are available to help keep your creative juices flowing.Don’t worry if you don’t feel you are very creative. Fused glass is a very tactile and forgiving medium and even complete beginners can get fantastic results.Your glass picture will be fired in a specialist glass kiln after the course and will be available to collect from Arthouse a week or so later or it can be posted (postage charged at cost). If you need your piece back in time for Mother’s day, this can be arranged.The course will be run in a small group to ensure lots of individual attention and is subject to a minimum number of people attending. If less than the minimum number sign up to this workshop, you can transfer to another session or get a full refund.Next steps – Annette runs longer and multi-part fused glass courses which will enable you to make larger and more complex pieces and to also learn more in-depth skills. She also runs Fused Glass jewellery courses which range from short tasters up to full day and multi-part Foundation course run over several weeks.Venue: The workshop will take place at Arthouse, South Brent which is based in a Victorian school building called South Brent Old School Centre, TQ10 9BP.
