Paul’s new album, Dumb and Free, arrives November 11, 2025  a vivid collection of songs written from the perspectives of people in his Minnesota hometown. The album took shape during a creative burst in late 2024 and was refined through a winter residency at Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In June, Paul recorded the album with his live band featuring Nick Hakim (piano), Jon Nellen (drums), Adam Brisbin (electric guitar), and Kevin Copeland (pedal steel).

Over the past few years, Spring’s music has continued to evolve across a wide range of projects — from 2023’s Always Almost Home, described by MPR as “meshing 90s pop and Bach,” to the “hidden pop gem” (Irish Times) Thunderhead (2022). His 2024 release River Flows Two Ways was praised by Aquarium Drunkard as “a singular fresh offering,” followed by Kind of Heaven, recorded live with Jon Nellen and featuring Nick Hakim on piano. In summer 2025, he released Vita Brevis — an album sung entirely in Classical Latin, inspired by Latin hymns and the lush 60s soundscapes of David Axelrod and The Beach Boys.

Raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and now based in New York City, Paul has toured extensively across the U.S. and Ireland including two unique river canoe tours: 48 days down the Mississippi (2015) and 150 miles down the Hudson (2024). He’s also an accomplished instrumental guitarist, known for his J.S. Bach 12 String Transcriptions (2021) and his weekly Bach sets at Manhattan’s Burp Castle.

Beyond his solo work, Paul was the lead singer and songwriter for Holy Hive and has performed with artists like Post Malone and Fleet Foxes. His guitar playing and songwriting have been featured on projects by Black Thought & El Michels Affair, Kenny Beats, Vic Mensa, Sofia Valdés, and Kirby. In 2022, he won a Grammy Award for his flute solo on Lecrae’s “Good Lord.”
