Renovating an older home or building could mean encountering health hazards such as lead, asbestos, or mold. Join Indiana Landmarks for a discussion on how to approach common hazardous materials and an introduction to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead Renovation, Repair, and Paint Program (RRP), established to promote lead-safe work practices in pre-1978 homes and buildings. The discussion will cover tips for identifying mold types, asbestos, and lead, and include an overview of lead-safe work practices required for contractors—and strongly encouraged for do-it-yourself renovators.
Presented in partnership with the City of South Bend and South Bend TradeWorks.
The workshop lasts approximately 1.5 hours. St. Joseph County Public Library Community Learning Center is an accessible venue. Questions? Contact bm9ydGggfCBpbmRpYW5hbGFuZG1hcmtzICEgb3Jn.
