To be opened by Megan Dick ('88): Collegian, Curator of The John Glover Prize & Leader of Learning and Engagement, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. 

This wonderful exhibition will feature work painted by Katie Barron during her residency in the Art Department on the Penquite Campus. Katie’s work explores themes of play, appreciation, and joy and is inspired by the iconic Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake Book. 

This nostalgic theme has provided rich inspiration for TCE students as they embark on their own artistic projects, drawing from childhood memories, family celebrations, and themes of tradition. These works are featured in this exhibition, alongside Barron’s. Our Year 9 Pastry Chef students are also joining in on the fun, by baking Birthday Cake Book cakes for the opening. 

This culminating event will celebrate the creative journey shared by Barron and the students, highlighting the impact of professional artistic mentorship in a school environment.
