Youth Only SRC Course – SURF RESCUE CERTIFICATE (31/3/2026 - 18/04/2026)

Age Requirements: The participant must be 13yrs of age at the time of the Assessment.

This course provides participants with skills and knowledge of surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations and resuscitation to participate in lifesaving operations and act in the role of Water Safety Personnel.

Date - : 31/03/2026 – 18/04/2026 (~17.5hrs Wet/Dry Training, 3hrs Assessment)

Assessment: 18/4 Sat

Compulsory: All sessions are compulsory. If you miss a session please note that the group is unable to stop and repeat content just for you. If you do miss a session you will be asked to defer to the next SRC Course / Assessment. Please do not sign up for the course if you already know you will not be able to attend all sessions. FAQ:Are there any changes this season 2025/2026? Yes, New this Season:

The run swim run has been changed to better represent the likely actions of a Surf Lifesaver in a rescue situation. Elements in resuscitation have also been modified. This is based on research, which have shown significant increases in survival rates by enacting relatively minor changes.

What is the pre-qual swim? Pre-qual swim is 200m in 5min or less.

Are there any other qualification / timed swims? Yes, on assessment you will need to complete a Run / Swim / Rescue course in 3min 30sec. This comprises:. 100m Run – 100m Swim with Rescue Tube in 3min 30sec (fins may be worn). Conduct a tube rescue on a patient and complete a 100m swim towing the patient (not timed).. Finish by assisting the patient to the waters edge. We will be practicing this during the course to make sure you are all comfortable with this.

Will I be required to attend all days of training? Please see the above note on compulsory attendance. We have run courses in the past where we are advised midway through the course that they are unable to make a date. If you cannot commit to these compulsory dates, you will be asked to defer to the next available course. Hopefully, you can understand that with ~ 24 participants and limited trainers we need to keep moving the group, we cannot stop to do catchup training for individuals that miss sessions.

When will I be given access to the Online Training Portal? This will be sent to you as soon as registration closes. If the course is closed earlier due to reaching max numbers, we will release these instructions and access earlier.
