In these roles, she worked with a startling number of children grappling with daily difficulties and challenges including bullying, grief, disability, financial hardship and family struggles.She has worked in the not-for profit sector for about 16 years. This includes a decade in fundraising and community engagement at a national organisation that helps children recover from the trauma of abuse, neglect and family violence. Here, she was privileged to share the stories of many children who had never had anyone in their lives who made them feel believed and believed in.It is these experiences, as well as her own parenthood, that compelled Dani to create a book in which children could find hope and strength and courage and comfort, no matter what private battles they were facing.
