Participants of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to perform or listen, fostering dialogue, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation of the power of words in building community and cultural understanding. Participants are invited to share up to five minutes of poetry and stay for a feature offering by local poet Fatima-Ayan Malika Hirsi.Fatima-Ayan Malika Hirsi is a Black mother who writes beside forests and waters on unceded lands of the T-Sou-ke First Nation. Her work strives to instigate action in service to world-building, social change, and collaboration. The author of two chapbooks, MOON WOMAN and EVERYTHING GOOD IS DYING, her first full-length collection, DREAMS FOR EARTH, arrived from Deep Vellum in 2025. Anyone sharing work or acting in a way that is discriminatory in nature will be asked to leave.
