Join us at the Falcon Shelter anytime between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM on May 29th, June 5th & 12th to participate in this engaging experience.

During this event, we will be playing the dawn chorus in anticipation of the first purple martins arriving at the colony.
Guide, Aaditya Deshpande, will lead us through the experience, providing insights about the birds and the surrounding natural environment. This occasion also offers a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow attendees and share an appreciation for nature.

Bring your favorite coffee mug and preferred morning beverage; we will have a fire to provide warmth and create a comfortable atmosphere. Cowboy Coffee will be available for refills.

Don't forget to bring a pair of binoculars and a chair so you can better enjoy the animals and beautiful views during the morning.

Aaditya Deshpande, our knowledgeable host, developed an early passion for birding through University of Iowa Wildlife Camps. He further pursued this interest with ornithology studies at the University of Iowa and research projects focused on purple martins and northern saw-whet owls. He is currently actively involved in conservation efforts at Macbride Nature Recreation Area and is pursuing his master's in ornithology.
