- **Event Description**: SVRC has been offering the Juniors Program for over 35 years now, and we are very excited to be able to offer another season of shooting again this year! Limited to 24 participants.

The Junior’s season runs every Thursday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, from mid-April through August.  Please keep an eye on the club’s calendar in case there are any changes to those dates. 

All youth ages 10 to 18 are eligible to participate regardless of whether their parents are members of the range.  The program stresses firearm safety while teaching marksmanship, proper range etiquette, and fostering a positive attitude.  If you know any youth with an interest in shooting or would like to help a youth, get firearm safety training by NRA certified Instructors then we encourage you to take advantage of this program. SVRC has all the gear, rifles, ammo, and targets needed to participate, so no personal equipment is necessary. This program is offered to all at no cost, with no requirements for consistent attendance.  This is a chance for our youth to learn shoot better in a safe environment with their peers.  Over the course of the 2022 season more than 23,000 rounds were safely fired. 

Most evenings the juniors shoot .22 target rifles at A-17 targets at 50 feet from either a bench-rest or one of the four NRA shooting positions (about once a month we are also offer other shooting discipline opportunities).  The juniors are all eligible to earn certificates and awards as part of the official NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program, and many are earned every year.  For those involved in Scouting, there is also an opportunity to earn the Rifle Shooting merit badge. 

We are also always looking for additional adult volunteers!  We need an extra volunteer or two every session to keep things running smoothly.  No special certifications are required, but if you are a certified RSO or Instructor, that would be a bonus.
