- **Event Description**: This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents, firearm parts, how to load and unload all common firearm action types, ammunition components, cleaning, care, safe storage of firearms in the home, and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. This is a student participation course where there is plenty of hands-on exercises to help you learn and practice safety under supervision of NRA trained instructors and safety officers.

This is not a free class like what we normally host. This class averages around $125 per student across southern New England, and up to $200 from some venues, but we are able to offer it for only $65 per person. Upon completion, each student will receive the Home Firearms Safety Handbook, Gun Safety Rules Card, NRA Marksmanship Qualification book, And an NRA Course completion certificate.

The Home Firearms Safety class will be held at the Smithfield Sportsman's Club at 14 Walter Carey Rd in Smithfield. This is NOT a live fire class, but you will get experience with several types of firearms, using dummy ammunition in a safe environment.
