“Giving thanks to God together” is the central theme of the Community Thanksgiving Worship Service that every year gathers people from different churches, denominations and communities in a very special time of worship.
This year the event will be hosted at Main Street Baptist Church on Sunday, November 23rd at 5:00 pm and will include the participation of 9 pastors from different churches in the Smithfield area.
Rev. Dr. James M. Harrison, Pastor at Main Street Baptist Church, will greet all attendees and participants as they gather to give thanks to God. He will also lead them through Communion as a reminder that they are one in Christ.
The Rev. Dr. Stephen K. Lee, new pastor at Bethany UMC will preach the message of the evening following an old tradition of welcoming new pastors by inviting them to preach.
Main Street Baptist director of music, Ronald Ford, will oversee the music for the occasion. He will also direct a special anthem by the united choir composed of singers from many Smithfield churches.
