This unique 5-day desert trek immerses us in prehistoric art, geology, and the timeless landscapes once navigated by Touareg traders. From our base in Djanet, we’ll hike ancient caravan routes through valleys and wadis, visiting sites such as the Tin Essou rock engravings, the cliffs of El Berdj, and the mysterious “Hunter’s Period” rock art near Moul Naga – including the famous Hedgehog Rock. The journey culminates at the towering dunes of Tin Merzouga, reaching up to 300m high, where we’ll camp beneath a spectacular Saharan sunset. On our final trek, we pass through Oued In Djaren, home to arches, cliffs, and the iconic Weeping Cow engraving at Tigharghart. Between hikes, we’ll relax at desert camps under star-filled skies, enjoy authentic Algerian meals, and end with time to explore the souks of Djanet before flying back via Algiers.
