This intro-level backpacking trip is a perfect first-ever trip, or if you haven't been backpacking in many years, to take it easy, try out gear, and refresh on skills.This is an easy 1-night backpacking trip with a roundtrip total of 3.5 miles and 700' of elevation change. Most of our time will be in camp learning, connecting, and enjoying ourselves. We'll be teaching about backpacks (recommendations, adjusting them, packing them), tents and choosing campsites, minimizing risk, LNT (leave no trace), waste and sanitation, and any other topics that come up.Don't have gear yet? You can use OUR gear and we'll spend lots of time in camp teaching all things backpacking to increase your knowledge of gear and backpacking skills to increase your self-sufficiency and confidence to do overnight trips safely on your own.If needed, you can rent a backpack, tent, and/or sleeping pad for $5 each. The guides will have all the other important gear like first aid kits, fire kits, water filters, and stoves/cooking gear. All you need is a sleeping bag or blanket if it's warm out, a small pillow, a headlamp, 4 liters of water in bottles and/or a hydration bladder, food & snacks, eating utensils, personal toiletries, clothing for the weather, and hiking boots. A detailed packing list will be emailed to students after registration and you can contact us with any questions.So relax and enjoy the sunset and campfire at camp with no worries about getting out of the woods before dark.
