Join us for a **Free CPR training session on **Saturday, June 13th** at **12:00 PM** and **2:00 PM**. The training will take place **upstairs at the National Surf Centre in Strandhill F91 XH50

The Irish Heart Foundation’s Hands for Life CPR training programme aims to

● Empower attendees to be competent in recognising cardiac emergencies, make a call to the ambulance service and improve the quality of bystander CPR.

● Raise awareness around using AEDs and strengthening the links in the chain of survival in our communities.

Course Objectives:

● Recognise cardiac arrest.

● Confidently make a 112 / 999 call.

● Describe the steps involved in hands-only CPR for an adult.

● Practice the sequence to provide hands-only CPR to an adult.

● Describe how to use an AED.

● Understand how to perform CPR on a child.

● Describe when and how to help someone who is choking.

● Know the difference between heart attack and cardiac arrest.

● Recognise the signs of a stroke.

Facilitating the Course:

● The course length is approximately 60 – 75 minutes.

● The course includes videos, which show demonstrations of emergency situations of actors suffering from cardiac arrest and choking. The course is an awareness course and participants will have two opportunities to practice CPR during the course.

● Some terminology may be different to what is used on other CPR courses, but we have tried to ensure that the language for directing how to perform CPR matches the descriptions used by the Ambulance Service who will be guiding them how to do CPR when they call the Emergency Services.
