In celebration of our nation's 250th birthday, we are giving away 250 seedling trees for FREE! Other activities include a guided tour of our 130-acre park, a group bike ride, hiking activities and fascinating history lessons of our indigenous community, park and wildlife!

Activities & Events:

I. Bonfouca-Carollo Trailhead:
• 8 a.m. – 12 pm: Learn about the fascinating history of Bayou Bonfouca and the Chahta Native American Tribe with Chief Warhorse!

• 9 am - 11 am: Celebrate Trails Cleanup on the Tammany Trace – Make a difference in our community by picking up litter along the Tammany Trace as part of Love The Boot Week! Sign up at www.lovetheboot.org using zip code 70460

II. Camp Salmen Nature Park:
• 8 am -12 pm: America 250 Tree Giveaway - FREE 250 seedling trees will be available to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary! All trees are limited to one per person. 

• 8:30 a.m.: Group Bike Ride with Bike Easy – Join a discussion on the Bootlace Trail and participate in a fun-filled group bike ride on the Tammany Trace!

• 9 a.m.: QNS Hiking at Camp Salmen – Explore over 6-miles of trails, discover native plants and spot local wildlife throughout our 130-acre park 

• 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.: District 14 Councilman Jimmy Strickland & Ben Taylor will host a scenic tour of our historic Camp Salmen Nature Park

• 8 am -12 pm: Friends of Camp Salmen – Learn about the restoration of the Camp Salmen Lodge trading post, a National Register of Historic Places landmark and oldest building in St. Tammany Parish! Other discussions include native plants and the history of the Salmen Brick and Lumber Co.

Held on the fourth Saturday in April, Celebrate Trails Day is an annual spring celebration of America’s trails. Started by the Rails to Trails Conservancy in 2013, the celebration encourages people across the country to get outside and enjoy the nation’s exceptional trails and trail systems.
