The Dunlap Broadside (the first printing of the Declaration of Independence) is coming to the Margaret Chase Smith Library! In celebration we are hosting a printmaking workshop with our friends at the Skowhegan Free Public Library.

Colonial printmaking was the primary method for mass-producing texts, newspapers, and revolutionary imagery in early America using relief woodcuts, typesetting, and intaglio plates. You can do the same by cutting your own linoleum block and printing it!

Participants will walk away with their own prints!

The block printing workshop, led by Elizabeth Jabar from Hinge Collaborative, will take place on Saturday, September 26th, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.
