•	Registration & Licensing: You must register and possess valid state fishing licenses (unless underage), following all state law.

•	Fishing Times/Areas: Fishing is usually restricted to specific times. 

•	Catch & Release: fish must be brought to weigh stations immediately.

•	Weigh-Ins: Fish must be clean whole, and free of tackle/bait; officials inspect them.

•	Judging: Winners are often determined by weight, length, or total number of fish; organizer decisions are final.
