On this Photo Walk you will be introduced to astrophotography and night time landscape photography practices. Master camera settings and composition under the shadow of Malham Cove, one of the most iconic sites in the National Park. This session is part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Dark Skies Festival 2026.
Please note that this Photo Walk will take place on the most favourable date weather-wise out of 16th, 18th or 19th February. All participants must be available to attend on all three dates. Notification on the finalised date will be issued up to 48 hours before the event.

19:45 - 20:45 - Practical photography & 1to1 tuition
20:45 - 21:00 - Session summary & return to meeting point

Car Parking: On street (Cove Road) Free
Public Transport: Bus stop at the meeting point (buses from Skipton)
Walk Distance: Approx 1.5 miles
Access & Terrain: Paths are made from a combination of tarmac and crushed stone. On the crushed stone track puddles can form after wet weather. There are some kissing gates and small cattle grids on the path. Please note it will be dark so please come prepared with a torch/head torch to aid navigation.
Nearest Facilities: Adjacent to The Buck Inn (at meeting point)
What to bring:
A camera that can be set manually
A wide angle lens (e.g. 24 - 70mm on full frame)
Sturdy walking boots
Waterproofs (just in case!)
Torch/head torch
