Beginner/Refresher Navigation Day, Yorkshire Dales. July 6th

Join our Beginners course for those wanting to learn (or re-learn) how to navigate with a map and compass. Giving you the confidence to explore further on your walks.
Based in Long Preston, near Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales. One Day. Meet at the Maypole Inn at 9.30 on Sunday 6th July. Group Size 6.

Initially learn all about maps and planning a day out. Where you can and cannot walk, how long a walk will take, how steep/easy the terrain and fully understanding the map.

From late morning we head out in to the lovely Dales countryside for a 4 to 5 mile walk. Using compass skills to choose the correct path, pacing for the correct distance and the map to compare it to the land around we will devise and follow a walk.

By the end of the day you will have the confidence to explore further our countryside without the fear of getting lost.
