Featuring Simone Martin-Newberry, Beth Piatote & Emily Robison.About this EventDate: November 5, 2026Time: 5 - 6:30 p.m.Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & AgriculturePine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts and Agriculture invites all community members to come and engage with our current artists in residence. During this event, you will be guided on a tour of the studios where the residents are experimenting, doing research, and working on projects here at the Ranch. Their mediums range from writing, music and various visual artistic mediums. The event starts promptly at 5 PM, followed by light refreshments in the classroom.This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited so registration is required.For ages 16 and older. Those under age 16 may attend accompanied by an adult.About the Residents: (She/Her) – Los Angeles, CASimone Martin-Newberry is an illustrator and essayist who centers black and bodies of color within color-rich environments and histories. Her work has been commissioned and featured by The New York Times, Emergence Magazine, Chronicle Books, Waxwing Journal, and many others. Originally from Los Angeles, she currently works and lives on the road. (She/Her) – Berkeley, CABeth Piatote is a Nez Perce writer, playwright, and scholar. She is author of The Beadworkers: Stories (2019); distant water: poems (2026); and the play, Antíkoni, as well as a scholarly monograph and many other works. She is enrolled with Colville Confederated Tribes and she loves her Native language and homelands, her kids, her dog, and horses. (She/Her) – Swannanoa, NCEmily Robison is an award-winning spinner, knitter, and weaver living in Asheville, North Carolina. Her research and writing has been published in “Ply” and “Spin Off” magazines. Emily’s craft is shaped by place and cultural memory, grounded in the belief that we cannot move forward without fully understanding where we have been.Note: By registering for this event, you have opted into receiving our email newsletters.
