Jess believes ceramics is a team sport and loves that she gets to teach both formally and informally, while continuing to learn alongside her members. Jess worked as a small-production ceramic artist for over ten years, beginning while she attended Southern Oregon University. Her work focused on layering and marbling slip, using slip casting as a means to explore ideas rooted in printmaking—building the foreground first and working backward toward them background. Now that she wears many hats at Camp Clay and no longer has to commit to a single body of work in order to earn a reliable income, Jess is enjoying a more exploratory chapter in her creative practice. She has taken up knitting and sewing, while also returning to ceramic projects and ideas she has been chewing on for the past ten years.Note: By registering for this event, you have opted into receiving our email newsletters.
