Liity kontra-altto Jess Dandyn ja pianisti Keval Shahin seuraan Meidän Festivaalilla, jossa kuullaan Reena Esmailin Eternity in an Hour -teoksen Suomen ensi-ilta. Intialais-amerikkalaisen Esmailin meditatiivisessa teoksessa yhdistyvät improvisaation kautta länsimaisen musiikin lied-perinne sekä hindulaisten pyhän kirjoituksen Bhagavad Gitan tekstit.

Join contralto Jess Dandy and pianist Keval Shah at Our Festival / Meidän Festivaali for the Finnish premiere of Eternity in an Hour – a deeply reflective and genre-defying programme that brings together Western art song and a new set of Sanskrit songs by Indian-American composer, Reena Esmail.
Esmail’s songs are settings of portions of the Bhagavad Gita, a central scripture of Hinduism and Vedantic thought. The songs will be interspersed with songs from the western Lied canon, all connected by linking improvisations, creating an unbroken dialogue between European and Indian classical cultures and soundworlds.
