About Public School:
Public School is a music collective based in KL and with over 15 members consisting of selectors, producers, MC, promoters and music writers, they're probably the most diverse crew from the country up north. The collective aims to diminish barriers in music by taking it out of exclusive environments and making it accessible to all walks of lives - from throwing a series of parties at a wet market in the city to playing vinyl set at an organic farm in the suburbs.
Founded by Renry Hollins & Ruud, they're known for their uncanny mix of everything from Pop Yeh Yeh to Thai Molam to obscure Arabic psychedelic disco tunes to experimental electronic music from the Balkans. Renry Hollins is also the resident of Under9's adventurous bass night Ronggeng Sound System, and an ardent purveyor of the region's dub scene - he has toured Europe, Japan, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Somewhat a familiar name to our local scene, this gig will be his second time working together with Revision Music.
Meanwhile, Ruud has been a resident DJ in KL for over half a decade, most recently wrapping up at Zouk KL. Founder of several alternative club nights and music groups in KL, he has opened for and played with a multitude of international DJs and has featured heavily in events and festivals both locally and abroad.
Joining the head honchos to drop some records at Organika this month is their fellow member, CT Selecta. Often dubbed as Joget Warrior Princess, CT have been collecting and playing rare grooves from the region for several years now and enjoy playing vinyl set at picnics and Malay weddings.
