Nritya Pravaha – Samyojakam
Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam are two of the eight classical dance forms from India. Mohiniyattam is a classical dance form of Kerala. Bharatanatyam, from Tamilnadu, is the most popular among Indian classical dances.
The term Bharatanatyam is a compound of two words, Bharata and Natyam. The term Bharata in Bharatanatyam is named after the famous performance art sage Bharata Muni who wrote the Natya Shastra, from the 2nd century. Mohiniyattam gets its name from the word Mohini – a mythical enchantress avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, who helps the good prevail over evil by deploying her feminine powers.
This inaugural Nritya Pravaha will display a "Jugalbandi" featuring these two dance forms of complex and intrinsic artistic expression presented by Choreographers and Instructors Mridula Anand (Bharatanatyam) and Haritha Haridas (Mohiniyattam) together with their students, accompanied by live orchestra and vocalist.
