Introduction to Tanjore painting by Kaviya Jegadeesan
Tanjore painting is a classical south indian painting style, which originated from the town of Thanjavur. Tanjore paintings are panel paintings done on wooden planks and are characterised by vivid colors, simple iconic composition, glittering gold foils overlaid on delicate but extensive gesso work and inlay of glass beads or very rarely precious and semi-precious gem stones.
