2018 Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist Course Module 1-4
Module 1 - 4 : Myofascial Trigger Point Sports Massage Course
What if I give you this chance, this chance of having the power and knowledge to help others suffering from chronic pain and injury? That's the power of the healing hands of a Trigger Point therapist.
Whether you are new to trigger points, or have been working with Trigger points for years, our myofascial trigger point courses provide you with the latest evidence-based treatment techniques and advanced learning materials from some of the worlds leading manual therapists.
Each module is focus to deal with specific common pains and injury, and designed to deliver practical knowledge that you can apply immediately in your practice to benefit your patients.
Trigger Point Therapy is a unique advanced therapy to diagnose and treat myofascial trigger points, referred pain patterns, muscles spasms, stiffness, myofascial pain syndromes, and chronic pain. Trigger Point Therapy can complement traditional or conventional physiotherapy to treat patients with pain, restriction of motion, and structural symptoms.
Travell and Simons describe a trigger point as simply a small contraction knot in muscle tissue. It often feels like a partly cooked piece of macaroni, or like a pea buried deep in the muscle. A trigger point affects a muscle by keeping it both tight and weak. At the same time, a trigger point maintains a hard contraction on the muscle fibres that it is a part of.
The most significant thing to note regarding trigger points is that they often “refer” pain to other parts of the body in fairly regular patterns. For instance, pain experienced on the outside of your upper leg may be due to a muscle in that area (the vastus lateralis), however it could also be due to a trigger point located in a muscle higher up at the buttock (the gluteus minimus). Having knowledge of referral pain patterns provides us with a good starting point of where to look for the trigger points that are the root cause of the pain.
Without having a knowledge base of trigger points and it’s referred pain pattern, physician and General Practitioner cannot effectively treat and relieve pain syndromes.
Throughout my 10 years as a physical therapist, I’ve treated close to hundred of fairly simple cases, such as trigger fingers, slipped disc, tennis elbow, tension headache (often misdiagnosed as migraine) and frozen shoulder etc using a combination of Myofascial Trigger Point Release and Sports Massage technique and adding exercise prescription as part of the treatment plan. Where these people had been told their only option was to learn to live with their pain, to either take pain killer or opt for surgery which does not guarantee 100% recovery. Many of my patients gotten worse after going for the surgery.

Trigger points can play a significant role in most pain syndromes, that means to say you may be able to get a great deal of pin relief, or even complete relief, by simply working on trigger points and eliminating perpetuating factors coupled with exercise therapy.
