The general election in California in November 2026 will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. This date coincides with the nationwide U.S. midterm elections.

The 2026 elections in California will determine the winners for numerous state and federal offices, including:

Governor of California

All 52 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives from California

All 80 seats in the California State Assembly

20 even-numbered seats in the California State Senate

Various other statewide executive and local offices

A top-two primary election for these races is scheduled to take place earlier in the year on June 2, 2026. The two candidates who receive the most votes in the primary, regardless of their political party, will advance to the general election ballot.
