We have adapted their published research for field experience  to bring attendees and Silverton Food Co-op members for a closer look at pruning at our co-op’s frequent meeting place, the historic GeerCrest Farm, settled by the Geer family in 1848.

Nestled amongst creeks, forests, pastures, orchards, gardens, and historic buildings, attendees will be immersed in both nature and history. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 different pre-1850 apple tree varieties. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognized as a memorial for the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program.

Bring your hand pruners and loppers or borrow ours. Dress for the weather and wear solid, closed-toe shoes for working on uneven ground.
