Across four hands-on sessions, you’ll learn the essentials of editing: How to confidently navigate the editing interface, import and organize your media, and set up an efficient workflow. You’ll get comfortable with the tools for trimming, arranging, and moving clips, as well as adding still images, smooth transitions, titles, and simple effects to bring your story to life.We’ll also explore working with titles and graphics, and guide you through exporting and sharing your finished projects. To ensure you can put every lesson into practice, you’ll have access to sample footage, giving you the chance to experiment and practise.Docs in Progress provides the workstations and the software in our education lab.TEACHING ARTIST: Brian TerrillBrian is a filmmaker and educator with a passion for writing, directing, editing, and animation. His documentary work often highlights eccentric artisans, from monster-sculptors to glass violinists, capturing creativity in all its unusual forms. Since 2013, Brian has served as a teaching artist and curriculum developer throughout the Washington, DC region, including for editing and production classes at Docs In Progress, where he loves helping students build the technical skills to bring their stories to life.
