This year Soup will be held on Melbourne Cup long weekend:
Friday October 30th - Monday November 2nd, 2026
(Plus the optional after party on the following Tuesday!)
Across four days and three nights, we will gather at a new(!) bushy and tranquil camp setting about an hour's drive from Melbourne, to play, explore, test ideas, connect with like-minded community and decompress.

Each Stone Soup is completely co-created with the involvement of every participant, making it completely different every time! The official Whiteboard shall be presented each morning, and propositions as wide-ranging as ‘discussion group to contemplate Rimbaud poetry,’ ‘let’s write a pirate LARP opera together,’ ‘doughnut making,’ ‘blindfolded treasure hunt,’ 'a sound bath using found objects,' ‘choreography workshop to Cher’ or ‘a PowerPoint presentation of my morning routine’ are made, creating the day’s schedule. As the days roll on, ideas build off each other, and spontaneous collaborations arise.
First-time experience hosts have even proposed a nature walk, group journalling session or an hour of telling stories together. Amongst the Soup’s magic, the simplest idea often flourishes and becomes a special and unexpected event! You are welcomed to reach outside your comfort zone, our best experience designers are often experimenters, not masters of their crafts.
Stone Soup is a magical blank canvas of the right people, resources and environment to experiment. A rejuvenating creative re-set amongst our busy lives! A festival of experiences and ideas! We are excited to bring together members of different Melbourne creative communities to share, play and make together.
The event is fully catered, with three high-quality and healthy vegetarian meals each day!
We will all camp together, surrounded by nourishing nature (get in touch if you have any accomadation/access needs).
Creative supplies aplenty will be on hand!!
Stone Stoup is a *closed container* event, meaning attendees are asked to stay on site at the Soup the whole time between our Opening Ceremony: Friday 30th at 8pm and Closing Ceremony: Monday 2nd at 7pm.
Soupers are all welcomed/encouraged to stay on the night of Monday 2nd as well (the after party) and we will all pack up together on Tuesday 3rd (the public holiday) and leave after lunch 🙂
