We will be exploring the materials and techniques used by our ancient ancestors to make jewellery and decorative beads. To achieve this, we will be utilising natural materials such as stones, shells from our coast, soft metal, and wood.Join Clare, an experienced creative facilitator, and Asim, our supportive youth worker, for a hands-on Ancient Jewellery Making session in the woodland. During this two-hour workshop, we will be using a variety of hand tools to drill, carve, and shape our work, and then smooth and polish our pieces using sand stone, leather, and bees wax.What to Expect:🪨 Choosing materials – We’ll start by planning out our jewellery making and choosing materials that we can utilise to bring our unique creations to life.🛠️ Sculpting techniques – Learn safe and creative ways to drill, carve, and shape our work, and then smooth and polish our pieces using sand stone, leather, and beeswax. 🫖Cosy creativity – Enjoy the beautiful outdoors and a cup of squash / hot chocolate (with optional marshmallows!) as you create with natural materials.This is an outdoor workshop, so dress appropriately and wear sturdy footwear. We have a covered area in case of rain, so the session will go ahead whatever the weather!📍 Meeting Point: Cup-O-T’s woodland entrance📅 Date & Time: Saturday, 23rd May, 10am-12pm🎟️ Tickets: £3These sessions are funded by the Co-op Local Community Fund.Come and discover the fascinating world of jewellery and decorative beads making while immersing yourself in nature.
