Ten years after its creation, the sculpture Misraħ il-Kliem Mistur (Court for Concealed Thoughts) will be inaugurated as originally intended, through a public reading of anonymously submitted secrets.
The sculpture consists of five stone pillars shaped from sound waveforms, each derived from recordings of local villagers who shared a personal secret they wished to release.
Through the website kliemmistur.com, the public is invited to submit their own secrets anonymously. Every first Sunday of the year, at sunset, a performer gives voice to these confessions, reading them aloud toward the horizon and allowing them to dissolve into the open air as a collective act of healing.
Through this gesture, what was once concealed (Maltese: mistur) becomes medicine (Maltese: mistura). In the Maltese language, meaning emerges through consonantal roots — in this case, both words spring from the roots {M}–S–T–R, where concealment and healing share a common source.
You are invited to share the thoughts you wish to release.
May this gesture bring the healing you seek.
