- **Event Description**: As spring approaches, we invite you to join us on Saturday, March 14th, when the Shreveport Forward group will meet again for our seventeenth gathering. We’ll meet from 10 a.m. to noon in the Whited Room of Bynum Commons on the Centenary College campus.

At this month’s gathering, we’ll take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

We’ll explore how development at the city's edges has shaped Shreveport over the past several decades. As the city expanded outward and many of our core neighborhoods and downtown areas were left with new challenges. These patterns are not unique to Shreveport, and communities across the country are working to rethink how growth can better support their historic centers.

Together we’ll look at how this pattern developed here, how it affects our neighborhoods today, and how our North Star can help guide a renewed focus on the city’s core areas moving forward.
What we’ll explore

- What sprawl is and how it developed around Shreveport

- How outward growth has impacted downtown and core neighborhoods

- Lessons other communities are learning as they rethink sprawl

- How Shreveport’s North Star helps guide a stronger future for our core areas

- Practical steps residents can take to support that shift

Change is often desired but rarely welcomed. Yet it is already taking shape in Shreveport. Each project, each idea, and each conversation moves us one step forward.

Join us on Saturday, March 14th from 10 a.m. to noon at the Whited Room in Bynum Commons on the Centenary College campus and take part in the ongoing work to shape a stronger future for our city.
