Secretary of State Nancy Landry announces the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum will host an exhibit of the Louisiana Society of Animal Artists and the Mud Mavens Ceramic Art from December 7, 2025 through December 30, 2025. The Exhibition of oil paintings, graphics works and pottery will open on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The museum staff invites the public to meet the artists and view the exhibit in the West Wing Gallery. LSEM Friends will provide light refreshments.
Capturing wild and domestic creatures great and small, on land, sea and air, in a wide range of media and artistic expression, the Louisiana Society of Animal Artists continually pursue excellence and broaden appreciation for subjects of the natural world as Fine Art. Visitors will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork.
Participating Animal Artists include: Carla Davis, Don Edwards, Ron Kidwell, Pennie King, John McDonald, Sena McWilliams, Barbara McGowan, Melba Miller, Denia Owens, Tammy Randall, Larry Riales and Kay Wallace.
Mud Mavens, with instructor Mark Poole, will provide a variety of original creations of local pottery. Artists include: Yvonne Chafin, Trudy Daniel, Amanda Mann Davis, Catherine Evans, Gwyn Hults, Kim Norton, Mark Poole, Kathie Thomas, and BriAnne Youngblood.
The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road. From Interstate 20 traveling west, take either Greenwood Road or Hearne Ave. exit. If driving east from Texas, use the Jewella Ave. exit and turn right onto Greenwood Road. Admission is FREE and tours are available by appointment. Museum hours are Monday – Friday 9am-4pm.
