We're pleased to invite back William B. Hart, Professor Emeritus of History at Middlebury College, who will speak about the extraordinary life and times of Alexander Lucius Twilight (1795-1857), an 1823 graduate of Middlebury College. Topics include Twilight's childhood, his education, his careers, Twilight's rascal identity, representations of him, and more. Come learn about this remarkable individual who broke barriers, established precedents, and made history.
This program is part of the Orwell and Shoreham Libraries Keynote Speakers Series for 2026, sponsored by the National Bank of Orwell; it is free and open to all.
